Tips on creating a filter in your gmail bcacs account
Filters help you stay organized or filter out unwanted mail.
To create a filter:
• Click on Create a filter—a blue link above the blue bar above your list of emails in your inbox.
• A box appears. Just fill out the sections that are important to you.
The From is the email address you want to have filtered when it coming into your inbox
The To is the email address it’s going out
The subject lets you filter by subject
The Has the words and Doesn’t have the words lets you filter by words in the actual email.
• You can fill in only one line or multiple lines to refine what or who is getting filtered.
• Click on Next Step
• This section allows you to choose what to do to the messages you’re filtering. You can do more than one thing. You can:
Skip the inbox and Archive it. This means you’ll never see it in your inbox but it won’t be deleted, just archived.
Star it
Apply the label: Choose which label you want. You can only apply one label.
Forward it to another email address—enter the address you want it forwarded to.
Delete it: This will not allow you to see it or retain it. It will simply be gone.
• You can check the box for Also apply filter to the conversations below—this happens if you have emails that the filter would apply to already in your inbox.
• Click on the Create Filter button.
Now a window comes up showing all your current filters. You can edit or delete them in this window or create another filter.
Just click on your inbox link on the left to return to your inbox.
